Flour manufacturing concern in Heidelberg, Western Cape is in need of a capable Food Safety Officer. The successful candidate will oversee all food safety activities and endeavour to continuously improve the Food Safety Management System. The Food Safety Officer will report directly to the Operations Manager. Salary will be discussed at interview level.


  • Ensure up to date record keeping
  • Coordinate facility cleaning activities
  • Enforce hygiene code of conduct
  • Record control – issue, retrieve & archive
  • Ensure product quality standards are adhered to
  • Manage Pre-Requisite Programmes (PRPs) incl. hygiene management, pest control, maintenance and others
  • Conduct regular Site Inspections and Internal Audits
  • Training staff on Food Safety practices
  • Coordinate training of all staff and HACCP team
  • Coordinate and interpret lab analysis as per planned schedule
  • Monthly trending of relevant data
  • Conducting Food Safety Meetings
  • Corrective Actions (NCRs, customer complaints, audit corrective actions)
  • Monitoring traceability process
  • Mock Recalls
  • Annual Management Review – incl. analysis of trended data & set objectives

Required Skills

  • food safety : 4 to 5 years
  • food policy : 4 to 5 years
  • food safety management system : 4 to 5 years

Candidate Requirements

  • Tertiary education required, Food Technology qualification/experience advantageous
  • Must be methodical and meticulous
  • Fully bilingual (Eng & Afr) with good communication skills – written and verbal
  • Min. 5-years work experience
  • Experience in a production facility advantageous
